What Lies Beneath

"A man finds himself alone in the mountains.
He has come here to run away from everything and everyone he knows. Tormented by grief, that originated in the loss of a dear one, he is unable to process these unintelligible feelings and decides to seek the answers in the stillness of nature.
Descending into a hallucinogenic state, caused by the hypothermia from the cold, memories of friends and family from the past visits the man in a series of non-linear and increasingly surreal flashbacks.."

In theatre company Romantika's latest production, directed by Johan Bark, the company takes the audience on a surreal and humorous journey, exploring men's reluctance to express their emotions, with specific focus on grief.
Juxtaposing comedy with tragedy, and realism with surrealism, the production involves elements of visual and physical theatre, live Scandinavian folk music, and a set and lighting design inspired by the Northern Lapland landscapes.
